Rev. Francis J. Carabello was appointed the 13th Pastor of St Joseph Church by Archbishop Philip Hannan in 1980. He served as Associate Pastor at St. Mary Magdalen, Metairie, and at St. Joseph Co-Catherdal, Thibodaux. Fr. Carabello is a former Principal of Archbishop Shaw High School, Marrero. He is the son of the late Frank and Frances G. Carabello and was born in Reading, PA where he attended Central Catholic High School. He studied with the Salesians of St. John Bosco and graduated from Don Bosco College, Newton, JN with a BA Degree in 1961. He received the Masters Degree in Education from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, in 1971. He studied theology at the Salesian Institute in Bollengo, Italy and St. Thomas Theologate, Messina, Sicily, and was ordained a priest at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Messina on January 4, 1968. Before doing parish ministry, Fr. Carabello taught at Salesian High School in Ipswich, MA, Cedar Lake, IN, East Boston, MA Ramsey NJ and Marrero, LA.
